Helena Youth Soccer Association

Our Mission

The Helena Youth Soccer Association strives to provide a fun, safe environment to develop children from local communities into well-rounded athletes that are enthused to contribute on the field, in the classroom, and in the community.

We provide a terrific soccer experience to children from kindergarten through the end of high school.

We offer kids an entry level introduction to soccer through our Recreational Program.

The Academy Program serves as a bridge between the fun offered through our Recreational Program and the more competitive soccer available through the Arsenal program.

Our small professional staff works with our hundreds of dedicated volunteers to ensure the highest level of satisfaction for our players and families.

Our Programs

The Helena Youth Soccer Association (HYSA) is the Helena area’s only multi-tiered soccer organization.

We offer three levels of play for children in grades Pre-K - 12 starting with Micro and Recreational, and peaking with Arsenal.

Our programs run in the Fall and Spring.

Our players have advanced to play at very high levels of the game by winning championships, MVPs, and competing at the collegiate level.

More importantly, our players win many awards in the areas of sportsmanship, community service, and academics. While HYSA encourages success on the field, our core value is instilling characteristics that will make for successful contributors to society. Soccer is the tool we choose to teach these principles.

As part of our Recreational programming, Micro Soccer, through fun games and age appropriate activities, introduces our youngest players to soccer, to practicing, and to learning what they can do and build their confidence in being part of larger activities.

Ages: U3-U5 (under 3 to under 5 years old)

Recreational soccer is intended to introduce young players to the basic principles of soccer while providing a fun environment to learn and an avenue for older players to continue playing without having to fully commit to competitive travel soccer with the Arsenal program.

Teams are divided by age and gender (grades 5+ are co-ed) and we make every attempt to place players according to their wishes. Rec teams practice once per week and play games on Sunday afternoons. The entire experience is a fun way to meet new friends and get some physical exercise while enjoying the beautiful spring and fall Montana weather!

Ages: U5-U14 (Grades K-8)

Arsenal Academy

Arsenal Academy is a developmental program for younger players leading to our most competitive level of Arsenal club participation.

Ages: U9/U10 & U11 (Fall & Spring)

Arsenal is our most competitive level of program participation.

For players and families, it is a lot of fun and also a significant time and financial commitment.

Players attend tryouts prior to the season and are placed on teams accordingly.

Teams are led by experienced, United States Youth Soccer licensed coaches and practice a minimum of 2 times per week.

Players should aspire to increase their technical and tactical abilities and prepare to play at a higher level of competition.

New Arsenal players have usually completed at least 2 seasons of Academy or other higher-level soccer.

Ages: U11-U14 (Fall & Spring) U11-U19 (Spring)
