2013 MYSA Season Kicks Off

The 2013 MYSA State League season kicked off on Saturday, April 6 with four Arsenal teams in action around the state. The U13G and U14G Premier teams were in action at the Siebel Soccer Complex while the U16B Select was in Livingston and U18G Premier was in Great Falls.

Matt Brophy’s U13G squad dropped a hard-fought contest to Bozeman Blitzz, 2-0, before hanging on against Magic City to win 2-1 and split the day’s results. In the third round-robin game of U13G, Magic City defeated Bozeman (0-0). Brooke Mahoney’s U14 girls also dropped a close first game. After tying the score at 1, the Flathead Rapids Black Premier quickly regained the lead and held on the rest of the way for a 2-1 win. The U14’s second game of the day, against the Flathead Rapids White Select, was forfeited by the Rapids due to insufficient players and goes in the W column for Arsenal. In Livingston, Danny Stark’s team played great on the defensive side of the ball but was unable to find the net, tying Livingston Purple Select 0-0 and dropping a 2-0 decision to FC Missoula Blue Premier. In Great Falls, Rick Sparks' U18G Premier got off to a hot start with a 3-2 win over Bozeman Blitzz Premier and a 3-0 win over the Stevensville Sabres Select.

Next week will see all Arsenal teams in action across Montana, except for both U12 teams, who begin season play in two weeks. The U14G, U16B, U19G, and U19B are all home and play a pair of home games at the Siebel Soccer Complex.
